We always vouch on providing a flawless sleep apnea treatment that is related to teeth.

Has obstructive sleep apnea been associated with orthodontics?

Severe or OSA (OSA) treatment has been one of particular interest to orthodontists for the past two decades, with regard to how it has affected people's growth and teeth and overall health (OSA). There have been those who say that dental positioning has something to do with this disorder, due to the proximity of the teeth to the nose, the mouth, and the throat. If it can be shown that certain orthodontic treatment prevents or cures OSA, we'll offer it.

Is there any truth to the rumor that orthodontics and prescribed treatment for sleep apnea are related?

Some people think some of the orthodontic treatments cause sleep apnea since this treatment moves the teeth backward similarly pushes the tongue back in the same amount. They believe that if the tongue is placed back into the mouth, it will obstruct breathing and prevent obstructive hypopnea (complete or partial blockage of the airway).

There have been several studies linking orthodontics to sleep apnea and that is why we offer to provide sleep apnea treatment.

Orthodontic process that can move the front teeth are headgear procedures, extraction and dental retraction. Headgear can be used to restrain the forward growth of the upper teeth (or parking them back) in both developing and mature ones.

Crowding or overbite extraction, together with extractions are appropriate treatments for most cases of malocclusion. Finally, an attempt is made to change the length of the jaw to match each other. It is the most common procedure, for the most part, used to treat an under bite.
